Why September Might Be the Best Month on the Adriatic
Warmer water, thinner crowds and a different kind of light along the coast.
July and August get the attention, but they are not when we would choose to sail if the choice were only ours. By early September the water has had all summer to warm, the wind settles into a more predictable pattern, and the harbour towns that felt crowded in August start to breathe again.
The light changes too. Afternoons stretch longer and turn a warmer colour by early evening, which matters more than it sounds for a week spent mostly outdoors. Restaurants that were fully booked in peak season suddenly have a table for the evening you actually wanted.
